This weekend I got -THE- four piece Cocobolo back joined, thinned and profiled. The center reinforcement is also glued on. I really like this piece of wood, and with the Italian top and Brazilian rosewood bindings I have planned for it, it should be a killer little finger style guitar.

Bracing on the Flamed Mahogany E2

I am really counting on this guitar to stand out amoung the batch I bring to Healdsburg Guitar festival next summer.
This is the only one that will have somewhat of a traditional wood combination, with its mahogany back and sides and Adirondack top. So far it is shaping up to be a good one. The addy top has a fantastic tap, very stiff and should be well complemented by the slighter larger E2 body.
Brace Carving and center strip installation.

Could not resist -- Brazilian Rosewood

I admit it, I'm a sucker for sapwood, as you can see by my current work and some of the sets that I have posted here I love the stuff! To me it sets the back of a guitar off just perfectly.
Cocobolo, Ziricote and Brazilian has some of the nicest looking sapwood centers and more recently Malaysian black wood. Anyways, I came across this set of Brazilian Rosewood about a year ago. Just this weekend while shuffling my wood around I came across this set and was reminded of how beautiful it was. Its a small set and will only make a parlor size guitar.

New addition to the woodshed!

I never get tired of buying wood, its a sickness that most guitar builders have :)
This week I was able to score what might be the nicest set of Cocobolo I have ever seen!
This set was found, cut up and stored away by my good friend Brock Poling.
Brock had this set earmarked for a special "Poling guitar" down the road.
Brock sent me this picture and I begin the long process of "Whaddya want! How much ! How about this! OK and ill throw in that!
Eventually Brock caved under my relentless pressure :) Well, not really "caved" But instead knowing that I wanted to making this into a show guitar for the Healdsburg Guitar Festival next year he gave it up.! ----- Well, he didn't really "GIVE" it up, but you get the idea :)
Suffice to say, If you would like this made into your "Dream Guitar" contact me and well chat!
Otherwise, look for it at the HGF next August 17,18 and 19th.

Sycamore L1 GP back is braced!

Well, not a real exciting evening in the shop, but that as it may, I did get this Sycamore back braced up, This is sort of a pet project, Ive been wanting to build an all domestic guitar for a long time and I am finally getting around to it! This guitar is going to have a Douglas Fir top, walnut/maple/walnut neck, walnut bindings, and Texas Ebony Fretboard, bridge and headstock overlay given to my by my good bud Steve Kinniard.
Steve is a heck of a guitar builder too!
Anyways, If your watching my building blog, fell free to make a comment and say hey!
