Cyclone dust collector on the way!

Not a lot of guitar work was done this weekend, that's not to say that I didn't spend all weekend in the shop.
I have headed my way a new Penn State Industries Cyclone dust collection system, and in preparation for it I plumbed my entire shop with hoses running to every power tool I own. Right now my little 1 horse Jet dust collector is hanging in there but its a little to much for it. I should have my Penn unit installed next week and that will just about rid my home of saw dust. My wife will be thrilled :-)

On the guitars, I joined and thinned the Italian spruce top for the Little O im building. This top is fantastic, it has a nice light bearclaw to it, and its very stiff, with a rich overtone filled tap. More later.

Full Frontal view

A picture from a friend

A past client of mine sent me this image today. I love getting stuff like this, and thought id share.
Thanks Tom!

Lance

Here they are together.

This picture shows a more natural color for both the top and back. I think there a match made in Heaven.

Bear claw Italian Spruce top for the O

Here is the top I will be using for the Martin O style guitar. It displays some nice bear claw down the center, and is milky white and very stiff.

For those that follow this blog

I suspect you will soon get sick of seeing this little Cocobolo O :-) It is quickly becoming my favorite guitar as It comes together, and I cant help but post the progress. I've never built this size guitar before and so far I have enjoyed every thing about it. Last night I was able to plane all the back braces to an even height, and I got one (the lowest one) Scalloped and sanded. I do plan to take this little guy with me to sell at Healdsburg Guitar Festival 07, unless it sells before hand, But I am certain It will be one that I would love to keep for myself :(

Three back getting braced

Here are 3 back that were carved today. They will be getting there center seam reinforcement installed next. The middle is an E2 made of Malyasian Blackwood with two Cocobolo backs, one on each side.

Close up details

I think this shot shows the 15 foot radius I put in the backs of all my guitars very nicely.

Back bracing on the little O.

I am really excited about this guitar, it will be my first ever Martin O sized body, and this set of cocobolo is just out standing. The top will be a nice bear claw Italian spruce. It will have a slot head neck and a 24.9 scale.

Back Bracing for David R OMFS

New Logo

Finally, My new Logo is done. I had a designer use my hand written signature to create a logo that will complement the crest of my headstock. Considering the length of my last name this was no easy task :)

I am very pleased with how it came out.
